چکیده

but were increased around areas of necrosis and around blood vessels. No relationship between tumour cell proliferation and necrosis was detected. Conclusions: Tumour cell proliferation is concentrated around blood vessels in glioblastomas. Blood vessel proliferation, but not tumour cell proliferation, is related to areas of necrosis and the presence of macrophages in glioblastomas. Targeting of blood vessel proliferation and macrophages within glioblastoma may present a therapeutic strategy for treatment of these devastating tumours.

A combined analysis of the Deleted in Colon Cancer (DCC) and the p53 proteins expression in gastric cancer

Title: A combined analysis of the Deleted in Colon Cancer (DCC) and the p53 proteins expression in gastric cancer. Summary Background: Loss of acitivity of tumor suppressor genes is considered a fundamental step in a genetic model of

Promoter CpG island hypermethylation- and H3K9me3 and H3K27me3-mediated epigenetic silencing targets the deleted in colon cancer (DCC) gene in colorectal carcinogenesis without affecting neighboring genes on chromosomal region 18q21.

Chromosomal loss of 18q21 is a frequent event in colorectal cancer (CRC) development, suggesting that this region harbors tumor suppressor genes (TSGs). Several candidate TSGs, among which methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 1 (MBD1), CpG-binding protein CXXC1, Sma- and Mad-related protein 4 (SMAD4), deleted in colon cancer (DCC) and methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 2 (MBD2) are closely linked o...

Loss of DCC expression and glioma progression.

The deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC) gene, a candidate tumor suppressor gene on chromosome 18q21, encodes a neural cell adhesion molecule family protein that is most highly expressed in the nervous system. To address the hypothesis that DCC may play a role in glioma development and/or progression, we examined DCC expression by immunohistochemistry in 57 resected human astrocytic tumors. Overa...

Frequent loss of expression of the potential tumor suppressor gene DCC in ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

The development of colon carcinomas is associated with allelic deletions on chromosomes 5q, 17p, and 18q. The DCC gene located on chromosome 18q21.3 codes for a potential tumor suppressor gene related to cellular adhesion receptors. We investigated the expression of this gene in several pancreatic carcinoma cell lines and in patients with ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas. In 8 of 11 cell ...

Recurrent DCC gene losses during bird evolution

During development, midline crossing by axons brings into play highly conserved families of receptors and ligands. The interaction between the secreted ligand Netrin-1 and its receptor Deleted in Colorectal Carcinoma (DCC) is thought to control midline attraction of crossing axons. Here, we studied the evolution of this ligand/receptor couple in birds taking advantage of a wealth of newly seque...
